1-01 First-Year Boy
We were victims of the tsunami on March 11th, 2011. The city of Rikuzentakata was terribly damaged by the effects of the tsunami. I used to live in Fuppushi in Kesen-cho. My house wasn't washed away, but almost all of the houses on the lowland of Fuppushi were.
That evening, I was full of fear and anxiety. Every day, I wondered when our town would return to normal.
Daily life was hard. Every day, we weren't able use electricity, water or gas. For meals, we received food from a evacuation shelter every day and ate that. We got water brought by a water supply tanker and used it for drinking and washing dishes.
Thanks to the many people who supported and encouraged us, we are now able to go to junior high school. We lost a lot of things and are still grieving from the tsunami disaster. However, if it weren't for the support and encouragement from those people, we wouldn't be here now. This disaster was a chance for me to realize the importance of everyone working together.

ぼくたちは３月１１日に津波の被害にあいました。津波の影響で陸前高田市は重大な被害にあいました。自分の自宅は気仙町の福伏地区にあります。自宅は流されなかったけど、福伏の低い土地にある家はほとんど流されました。
３月１１日の夜は、恐怖と不安でいっぱいでした。毎日この町がいつ戻るかなあと思っていました。
生活は大変でした。電気も水道もガスも使えない毎日でした。食べ物は毎日避難所からもらってそれを食べていました。水は給水車からくんでもらっていてそれを飲んだり食器を洗ったりするのに使っていました。
たくさんの人たちの支援や声援のおかげでぼくたちは今、中学校に通えていると思います。津波の影響でたくさんの物を失い悲しみなどが今も残っていますが、たくさんの人たちの支援や声援のおかげで今があります。この震災ではみんなで協力することの大切さを改めてわかりました。
