1-16 First-Year Girl  

 

   Looking back on the year of the disaster, on March 11th we were in a classroom after rehearsing for graduation when a huge earthquake occurred and I didn't know what was going on. Even after we all went out to the school yard and were sitting, aftershocks kept coming and I was scared. While evacuating to the nursery school, I looked towards Kamiosabe and saw what looked like flowing water and trees and houses moving, but I didn't know that was a tsunami at first. My grandfather came to pick me and my younger brother up, so I was a little relieved. My brother and I spent that night with my grandmother, grandfather, my grandmother's younger sister, and a neighbor. My father came by a few times, but he went out again, which made me sad. The following day my elder sister came back, to my relief. We still didn't know about my mother, so I was very worried. A few days later, my father picked her up and she came back safely, which was really great. With this, we were all together again and I was so very happy and relieved.

   After a few days, food, lights, and many other things arrived from various places and I was thankful. There was no water to run a bath and times when I hadn't bathed for a few days, so I'd go to my grandmother's house to take baths. About one month later, I was able to start junior high school and I was glad to make new friends and to be able to go to school. Riding the school bus every day, I thought how much the view of Takata has changed. I joined tennis club, and I'm so grateful for the many people who provided things like rackets, uniforms and clothes.

   Sometimes I think what if the disaster hadn't happened? But this disaster made me realize the kindness of many people. I will be positive and try to do my best without forgetting this year.

   わたしは、震災のあった一年を振り返って三月十一日は、卒業式の練習の後みんなで教室にいた時にすごく大きな地震がきてなにがなんだかわかりませんでした。みんなが校庭にでてすわっている時も余震が続いて怖かったです。保育所にひなんするとちゅう、上長部の方を見たら水みたいなものが流れてきや家が動いていてあれが津波だと一瞬わかりませんでした。おじいちゃんが私と弟をむかえに来てくれて少し安心しました。

   その夜は、おばあちゃん、おじいちゃん、おばあちゃんの妹、近所の人と弟でねました。お父さんもたまに家に帰ってきてくれたけどまた行ってしまったのでさびしかったです。

   次の日にはお姉ちゃんも帰って来たので安心しました。お母さんだけがまだ分からなくてすごく心配しました。二、三日たってお父さんがお母さんをむかえに行ってくれて、ぶじに帰って来れて本当によかったです。これで家族が全員そろってすごくうれしかったし安心しました。

   何日かたつと、いろんな所から食べ物や電灯やいろんな物資がきて助かりました。おふろも水が出ないので何日か入れない日があったけど、ばあちゃんの家に行ったりして入りました。

   一ヶ月くらいたって、中学校に入学することができて新しい仲間と学校生活をおくれることがうれしかったです。スクールバスで毎日通っていて高田の風景がすごく変わったと思いました。部活もテニス部に入って、ラケットやユニホームや服など、たくさん支援してくれたたくさんの人たちにすごく感謝しています。

   震災がなかったら、と思う時もあるけどこの震災があったから、たくさんの人のやさしさに気づけたと思います。この一年を忘れずに前向きに頑張っていこうと思いました。
